He might be new to MHS, but he's definitely not new to Marshall Public Schools! Today, we're extending a warm welcome and a big congratulations to Dave Turner, the new high school principal.

Dave has served as the middle school principal for over a decade, and he's excited about the great year that lies ahead as he works to help students and staff grow educationally and professionally.

Rewind to several years ago, Dave was planning to study biology at Albion College when he decided to make the switch to education. He realized that he enjoyed working with people more than he enjoyed working in laboratories. Here at MPS, we're thankful that Dave made the switch and has been part of our team for so many years.

Earlier this week, MPS employees kicked off the start of a new school year by getting together for our Annual Community Breakfast. This time together helps us head into the new year as a unified team!

And how about those sharp new shirts?! Every MPS employee received one for FREE because of the generosity and support of Lori Sturdevant of Berkshire Hathaway, Marshall Community Credit Union, and FUG. We can't thank them enough for giving us some new MPS swag to wear this year.

It’s that time of year when you’ll start to see school buses out again. Study this graphic and be sure to stop when you see those red flashing lights! Our students’ lives count on it!Well, Minnesota...its that time of year again.

It shouldn't be difficult to figure out how to drive when seeing those big yellow boxes with bright flashing lights and stop signs. Yet each year, countless individuals blatantly disregard the law and the safety of children who are entering/exiting school buses.

So, here we are, forced to share the image below once again.

Study it. Memorize it. Follow it. The lives of our youth could depend on it.
